Br.Mark Chia, CSsR Vice Chancellor Scholar for YTU

Br.Mark Chia, CSsR has been notified by the president of Yarra Theological Union (Melbourne, Australia), Fr Chris Monaghan, CP, that YTU has proposed him to the University of Divinity as The Vice Chancellor Scholar for YTU. The Vice Chancellor Scholar award is given each year to a graduating student who best embodies the values of ytu.

"Mark has been a strong contributor to student leadership at Yarra Theological Union, through its Student Representative Council, Education Board and Senate. His academic work has been consistently strong. His quiet efficiency is evident both in his leadership of his fellow students and his care and support of them. He embodies the virtues of hospitality, outreach and compassion which this University values."
The Province of Oceania is proud of Mark's achievements as it is proud of all its members in formation. The Province congratulates Mark on this notable accomplishment and continues to rejoice at his presence among us.

Mark has just commenced his immersion year at the Baclaran Shrine (Manila, Philippines) for 2017 specialising in the media apostolate. He will prepare for his final profession in 2018 after returning to the House of Studies in Melbourne. Mark was last year appointed to the Redemptorist Media Board (Province of Oceania) though he will be absent from Board meetings while in the Philippines.
