Our Stories

Pot-and-LampFrom the mid 18th century there are fragments of some of the house timetables of the early Redemptorists.  One such is a community’s summer holiday (vacation) timetable.  It describes the confreres having the evening meal around midnight with night prayer following shortly after.  It is a lovely detail of life in one of our early communities.  One can only presume the confreres were mixing with the people in the village during the extended evening of the summer break, and then came home to sit down together and enjoy their supper, a laugh and a conversation before their night prayers.

It is in our communities that so much of Redemptorist life happens. In our communities our mission is imagined and from them it is executed.
